Info on golf balls

If you’re in the market for some new golf balls, take the time to do a little research into the different types of balls available. Youíll find that, in golf, not all golf balls are the same. Hereís a quick overview of the three major golf ball types.

Two piece golf balls

Two piece golf balls are designed to provide further distance based on the energy put into the swing. Beginners usually benefit from the 2 piece golf balls because usually beginners donít quite that the swing strength and speed to knock a golf ball as far as their more seasoned counterparts.

The two piece golf balls travel further because the rubber core, made up of tightly wound rubber bands, is larger and therefore, provides more off-the golf club head speed.

Plus, the two-piece golf balls tend to be less expensive and come in packs of 18.

Unfortunately, with the increased distance, golfers tend to get a decreased level of accuracy when playing with a two-piece golf ball, so make sure you choose the golf ball that suits your needs and your playing level.

Three-piece golf balls

The three piece golf ball, otherwise known as the multi-layered golf ball, is composed of a softer outer lining. The three piece golf ball therefore lends itself to greater accuracy with the shot, but less distance, as the rubber core on the inside is not quite as large as the two-piece type.

Three-piece golf balls are generally noted to be the ball selected most by intermediate players and have a mid-range price tag.

High performance golf balls

High performance golf balls are the most expensive type of ball and are generally reserved for the seasoned pros. This type of golf ball has a very soft outer layer combined with a soft rubber core. Because of the soft outer layer, it tends to be less resilient to scratches and cuts.

Now that you have an overview, buy a few different brands and types to experiment until you get just the golf ball you need to match your skill level and style.
